From January 23 to 26, 2026, the inaugural Workshop on Jet and Heavy Quark Physics (JAQ 2026) was successfully held at the Guiyuan Academic Exchange Center of Central China Normal University. The workshop was jointly organized by the Central China Center for Nuclear Theory (C3NT) at Central China Normal University and Shandong University, focusing on the forefront research in jet and heavy quark physics while placing special emphasis on cultivating young researchers and providing an important platform for discussion and collaboration in this area of physics in China.

The workshop attracted nearly 180 experts and scholars from approximately 50 domestic and international institutions including Vanderbilt University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, and University of Science and Technology of China. Remarkably, young researchers accounted for over three-quarters of the participants, demonstrating the vibrant development dynamics and promising future of this research field.

On-site participants
The workshop commenced with warm welcoming addresses from Prof. Qin Guang-You and Prof. Wang Xin-Nian of the College of Physical Science and Technology at Central China Normal University, who extended sincere greetings to all participants and expressed high expectations for the workshop's scientific discussions.
During the workshop, researchers engaged in in-depth discussions on hot topics including jet quenching, heavy quark production mechanisms, lattice QCD calculations, and applications of machine learning in jet physics. Young researchers presented 31 excellent talks covering multiple dimensions such as theoretical developments, experimental progress, and computational methods, fully demonstrating the latest achievements and development trends in jet and heavy quark physics research.
The successful organization of this workshop has established a high-level academic exchange platform for experts and scholars in the field of jet and heavy quark physics worldwide. Through systematic talks and profound discussions, participants not only shared their latest research findings but also reached multiple consensuses on future research directions, injecting new vitality into the development of this field. The workshop particularly emphasized promoting the cross-integration of theoretical, experimental, and computational research, providing an important platform for the growth of young scholars.
